Telecom and utility networks continue to become more complex, so our products that help them build better networks demand continual innovation. These operators need detailed modeling capabilities and workflows connected to the model, from the office or the field, across planning and design, construction, operations, outage management, and sales.
We constantly examine the network and workflow needs of telecommunication, fiber, and electric utility operators to deliver more flexible network models, efficient work execution, and dependable operations across the network lifecycle. Our award-winning software solutions have undergone significant enhancements in the past several months, and I’m excited to share some highlights.
Network Manager Electric 2.4
With Network Manager Electric, utilities can flexibly capture their current grid assets and easily extend the future model and workflows. We’re particularly excited about this latest release, which revolutionizes field design through:
- Staking wizard - Precise digital staking and pinpoint distance and angle designations.
- Guy wire modeling - Improved accuracy and decreased time and complexity for bi-sect calculations.
- Precise GPS routing - Precise feature routing for staking or locating purposes.
Workflow Manager 3.1
Workflow Manager is the only geospatial task automation software to streamline digital workflows across the lifecycle by intelligently connecting tasks to your network model. With the latest release, we accelerated network time to value via:
- Executive dashboard summaries – Increase visibility of progress of work through configurable project dashboard, progress bar, and new widgets and groups.
- Group management – Simplify user management with standardized assignment of users to groups and new grouping levels.
- Expanded configuration – Greater flexibility in configuration with no-code creation and validation of new ticket types.
Network Manager Telecom 3.2
For modern telecom and fiber operators, Network Manager Telecom gives you the most accurate digital twin of your physical network inventory and connectivity, along with the ability to easily add and edit features. This small release made a couple of small changes:
- Non-directional ports - Users can now define ports as not only In/Out but also Front/Back, allowing more accurate modeling of patch panels and distribution frames, including patching front to front, front to back, and back to back across non-directional ports.
- Improvements to CDIF import - Improved CDIF file import performance via the UI.
Comsof Fiber 24.1
Some of the most innovative fiber operators in the world use Comsof Fiber, the leading automated fiber planning and design software for operators and engineering firms who want to quickly and cost-effectively scale their fiber-optic networks. We’ve made network design even faster with:
- New rules for public/private drops – Provide greater flexibility for network architectures by separating the rules for the public and private parts of the drop trench and usage of parcel boundaries.
- UI/UX rules improvements - More consistency and easier navigation of the design rules.
- Hide rule options – Simplified the user experience by adding the ability to hide specific configuration options in the design rules.
IQGeo Platform 7.2
The IQGeo Platform is the foundation for all of the IQGeo products for both telecoms and utilities. We continue to extend and improve this established Platform for our products and the 7.2 was no exception. Notable additions included:
- Developer APIs – Introduced new documentation of developer level APIs to simplify customization.
- Authentication improvements – Further increased security posture by expanding authentication mechanism used for API access.
- Improved usability – Continued usability improvements to increase end user efficiency, particularly around map selection and selection management for data exports.
What’s next on the IQGeo product roadmap?
With more major product releases to be announced soon, 2024 remains a busy and exciting time ahead. Be sure to join us at the IQGeo Americas Meetup in October, where we will share insights from telecom and utility industry leaders, IQGeo customers and partners, as well as IQGeo’s vision on the changing business landscape and our technology roadmaps to meet future challenges.
