What’s new at IQGeo – Product release roundup January 2025

As we kick off 2025, IQGeo enters the year with tremendous momentum from the product innovations that defined the end of last year. We continue to focus on helping streamline work execution across the grid lifecycle and to help fiber and telecom operators more quickly design, build and monetize their networks.

I’m excited to share a quick recap of our achievements in late 2024.

Network Manager Telecom 3.3

Network Manager Telecom is the industry’s most flexible fiber, copper and coaxial network management software to accelerate planning, design, construction, and operations. Our 3.3 release enhanced asset visibility and streamlined operations, including:

  • Port attributes using metadata: users can define port attributes as metadata used to store and query properties such as customer IDs, VLAN IDs, wavelengths, port status, and port type.
  • Improvements to circuit management: flexibility to delete or move structures and routes and reconnect the circuits on them. Also includes the improved handling of circuit creation and routing for multiplexed paths.
  • New conflict management tools: the new Design Impact Report identifies common conflict scenarios to manage data fixes quickly and efficiently.
  • Secondary geometry support for fiber and copper: similar to our coax support, it is now possible to create secondary geometries for cables with flexible offset configuration.

Network Manager Electric 2.5

With our Network Manager Electric product, utilities can flexibly capture their current grid assets and easily extend the future model and workflows. This release made it easy for electric utilities to mobilize their grid data.

  • Simplified data exchanges: we removed manual steps for data exchanges from an incumbent GIS and made the process scalable for enterprise-level utility data sets.
  • Electric Data Interchange Format (EDIF) and Loader: the first way we did this was via a data model template called EDIF and Loader that exchanges utility data between the IQGeo mobile app and the incumbent GIS while maintaining geometries and without the need for code.
  • Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) Workbench template: the second was the FME template, which removes the need for custom coding and ETLs from the data exchange process. Any utility can use the FME template to translate data from their GIS into the EDIF template, ensuring a fast, seamless exchange with Network Manager.

Workflow Manager 4.0

We significantly expanded the capabilities of Workflow Manager, the only geospatial task automation software to streamline digital workflows across the telecom and utility lifecycle by intelligently connecting tasks to your network model. The 4.0 release included:

  • Focus on the network model: Workflow Manager integrates seamlessly with our Network Manager Telecom software so that operators can view every project and task in the context of your network’s location and connectivity.
  • Auto-generate network tasks: rather than building forms without a geospatial context or waiting on integrations and data loads, Workflow Manager auto-generates projects and related sub-tasks based on asset intelligence from the network model.
  • Flexible project views: the product now includes a dedicated project-level view, a tickets view that simplifies integration with other systems, and mobile phone support for BYOD use cases.

Comsof Fiber 24.2

To build on our success as the leading automated fiber planning and design software for telecom operators and engineering firms, we added the following functionality to Comsof Fiber with 24.2:

  • User control over duct design: flexibility to influence duct design and control over which cables are assigned to which ducts.
  • Clustering on microduct capacity: the ability to define microduct constraints on cabinets, manholes and handholes.
  • Duct tapering: the ability to disable optimized duct tapering.
  • Reuse of existing cables: support for existing cables from IQGeo Network Manager Telecom to enable full reuse of all equipment in a brownfield scenario.

Inspection & Survey 6.0

Inspection & Survey powers efficient utility inspections and surveys by digitizing every step of your work order and monitoring progress from a single dashboard. With 6.0, we added:

  • Standardized group management: decreases costs and lead time for setting up new projects with high user counts and multiple IQGeo apps in the ecosystem.
  • Enhanced survey selection and breadcrumbing: increases overall efficiency by removing the limit of how many orders that crews can pick up at a given time to reduce task switching.

What’s next on the IQGeo product roadmap?

IQGeo is growing quickly, and we plan to continue our pace of product development for 2025. This year will see industry-specific and user-targeted enhancements to our automated planning and design capabilities, numerous utility and telecom workflows, superior modeling of utility grids and fiber networks, and monetization of fiber infrastructure.

To learn more about these new capabilities and to discuss the benefits of an integrated approach, talk to our industry experts and see how you can take your utility grid and fiber, copper, and coax network management to a new level of efficiency.
